How to redeem a Google Play gift card
A Google Play code is redeemed on your phone or in a browser. What the balance covers, and the country rule.
A Google Play gift card adds Play balance to your Google account, for apps, games, in-app purchases, films and books.
On your phone
- Open the Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon, top right.
- Payments and subscriptions → Redeem code.
- Paste the code.
In a browser
Go to play.google.com/redeem and sign in with your Google account.
The country rule
Google Play balance has to match your account's Play country. A Türkiye code works on an account whose Play country is Türkiye.
You can see yours at Play Store → Profile → Settings → General → Account and device preferences.
Google allows a country change once a year, and only if you have a valid payment method in the new country. Any existing balance becomes unusable after the change — which makes buying the wrong country an expensive mistake.
Where the balance does not work
Google Play balance cannot be used for Google One, YouTube Premium and some subscriptions — this varies by country. If you can select the balance at checkout in the Play Store, it works.
It cannot be used for hardware (Pixel, Nest).
Balance stacks
You can redeem several codes and the balance accumulates. A single purchase can draw on the total of several codes.
