How to redeem an Amazon gift card
Amazon gift cards are country-specific — an amazon.com.tr card does not work on amazon.de. Where the code goes, and why that matters.
An Amazon gift card adds balance to your account, and that balance works on almost everything Amazon sells.
Where the code goes
- Go to the Amazon site the card belongs to (amazon.com.tr, for example).
- Your Account → Gift Cards.
- Choose Redeem a Gift Card and paste the code.
Shortcut: /gc/redeem does the same on every Amazon site.
The country rule — the strictest of any brand here
Amazon gift cards are tied to a site, not a region:
- An amazon.com.tr card works only on amazon.com.tr.
- An amazon.de card works only on amazon.de.
- An amazon.com (US) card works only on amazon.com.
They do not convert, and Amazon does not make exceptions. The product page says which country a card is for; check before you buy.
How the balance is spent
The balance sits on your account and is applied automatically to your next order. At checkout, make sure "apply gift card balance" is ticked.
If the balance is less than the order, the difference comes from your saved payment method.
What it cannot buy
Some items cannot be paid for with gift card balance — certain digital goods from third-party sellers, and some subscriptions. Amazon tells you at checkout.
Does it expire
In most countries Amazon gift card balance does not expire, but it is worth checking the rules for the country the card belongs to.
