How to redeem an Xbox gift card or Game Pass code

Xbox codes go onto your Microsoft account. There are three places to enter one.

On the console

Guide button → Store → Redeem code → enter the 25-character code.

On Windows

Open the Microsoft Store app → the three dots, top right → Redeem a code.

In a browser

Go to microsoft.com/redeem and sign in with your Microsoft account.

Gift card or Game Pass

Both are 25 characters but they do different things:

• Gift card — adds balance to your Microsoft account, which buys games, DLC or a subscription.
• Game Pass code — adds subscription time directly; no balance appears.

They go on the same screen, so mixing them up is harmless — the system works out what the code is.

Region

Balance codes are region-bound: a Türkiye code works on Microsoft accounts whose country is Türkiye. You can see yours at account.microsoft.com → Your info.

Game Pass codes are usually more flexible, but check the region on the product page anyway.

If you already have a subscription

Entering a code on top of an existing Game Pass subscription extends it. Between different tiers (Core, Standard, Ultimate) a conversion rate may apply — Microsoft calculates the added time accordingly.

Balance is not refundable

Money on a Microsoft account cannot be cashed out.
