This week in games: what October brings and what waits in November
Gears of War: E-Day arrives this week and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 at the end of the month. Knight Online's new servers, WoW Forever and GTA 6 follow in November.
October has become one of the busiest release months of the year, for a simple reason: nobody wants to share a week with November's big launch. Here is what stands out this week and this month.
This week
- Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is out today, October 2, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
- Gears of War: E-Day arrives on October 6 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, telling the days before the first game. Early reviews are positive: the OpenCritic average is 88 (54 reviews), with criticism mostly aimed at the length of the campaign.
The rest of October
- Planet Zoo 2 — October 13
- Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 — October 14 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
- Castlevania: Belmont's Curse — mid-month; sources differ between October 15 and 16 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PC)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — October 23 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, PC)
