Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is out: the Korean front, Kill Block and DMZ, but not on Game Pass
Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. It is not part of Game Pass; on PC you can buy it on Battle.net, Steam or the Xbox app.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, the new game from Activision and Infinity Ward, launched on Friday, October 23, 2026. Players who pre-ordered digitally had early access to the campaign since October 16 and to DMZ since October 20; now the game is open to everyone.

The game is not available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
Why it is not on Game Pass
On October 15 Activision confirmed the game launches as a standalone purchase: Modern Warfare 4 will not join Game Pass until Holiday 2027. Game Pass Ultimate members keep access to Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare III.
Story: the Korean Peninsula
The campaign opens with a full-scale North Korean invasion of the South. You play Private Park, a young South Korean soldier in combat for the first time, while an outlawed Captain Price fights his own war of revenge in the shadows. Missions range from trenches in Korea to New York, chases through Paris and SAS night raids in Mumbai.
Multiplayer
- 12 new 6v6 maps, each with its own infil.
- Kill Block: an arena inside the Westbridge Training Facility that reshapes itself between rounds. Its modular sections allow more than 500 layouts, and it supports 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight.
- Gunfight maps and Ground War maps for large battles with vehicles.
- Bloom is gone: hipfire shots land closer to where the barrel points.
- Operators, weapons, equipment and killstreaks share one Create-a-Class screen. A helper called Gunny suggests builds from the attachments you have unlocked, and maxing a weapon unlocks Apex Attachments.
- Two Prestige paths: Classic Prestige resets your class content, Regular Prestige restarts your level without that reset.
DMZ and Warzone
DMZ, the extraction mode, can be played solo or with a squad. Activision says Season 1 follows shortly after launch, when Warzone starts using Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression. At the same time, Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One stops being playable. An exact Season 1 date has not been announced officially; we will update this article when it is.
