Gifting a game code: what to get right
Region, platform and how you hand it over. Pick the wrong one and there is no way back.
A digital code makes a good present, but the wrong one cannot be exchanged. Three things decide it.
1. Region
The code has to match the store country of the person's account. Turkish balance will not work on a German account. If you are unsure, asking beats guessing — a wrong region is outside refunds.
2. Platform
- Wallet code / gift card — they choose what to spend it on. The safest pick when you are not sure.
- Game key — one specific game. A second copy is no use if they own it.
- Subscription code — extends whatever subscription they already have.
3. How you hand it over
Never post a screenshot of a code: whoever redeems it first keeps it. Send it directly, and check you are sending it to the right person. A code is single use and cannot be recovered once shared.
Practical notes on the order
- The code stays permanently on your order page, so a late email never means a lost code.
- Do not redeem it yourself before passing it on.
- Buying ahead for a birthday is fine: game keys have no expiry date and are valid on the day they are activated.
