ГайдSteam gifting after the July change: what works across regions

Valve's "Gifting made easier" post of 22 July changed how gifts work. The parts worth knowing:
• Games and gift cards can be sent to an e-mail address, and guest checkout works for any game.
• A gift that is not accepted is refunded automatically after 30 days.
• A gift sent by e-mail has to go to someone in the buyer's own country.
• Gifting to a friend in a region where the game costs more: Steam charges the higher price.
So before you buy a gift or a wallet code for somebody, check which country their account is in. A code for one region will not add funds to an account in another.
Have you sent a gift since the change? Did it arrive as expected?
